4/4 Violin -- High End Intermediate Guarneri 1743 Model

High End Intermediate 4/4 Violin, A faithful reproduction of the Guarnieri del Gesu c. 1743 "Cannone". This violin was made by one luthier from beginning to end from all solid tone woods aged and air dried (not kiln) more than 12 years. This violin is an exceptional intermediate violin and would be a great transition (and a big step up) for someone playing a rental instrument or even a high end student model. Price is firm. The spruce top is fine grained and very beautiful; the maple back is exceptional two piece narrow, horizontal striation and well defined grain continuing through the ribs. It is finished with a light brown Italian oil varnish that gives the grain of the wood a soft satin luster and allows thewood to breathe. The fittings (tuning pegs, chin rest, tailpiece, and button) are of standard ebony with inlaid ornamentation.. It has been stored in a humidified case and is in "like new" condition.

It has been fitted with new Dominant strings (G through A) and a Pirastro Gold Series Loop End E string. I would describe its tone as "balanced" with " very good projection and volume". It has also been set with a Wittner Hill Style fine tuner on the E string that lengthens the after string to its full length for better tone and reverberation on the E string. The build of this violin is such that it will continue to develop an even more mature tone as it is played over the next few years.

The nut, bridge and sound post were recently adjusted by a well known local luthier that I trust. It is ready to play.
